Trivia & Facts

– In addition to working together on this film, Milla Jovovich and Timothy Olyphant have both worked on films that were adaptations of video games. Jovovich was in Resident Evil (2002) and its sequels; Olyphant was in Hitman (2007).

– Director David Twohy has been quoted in recent interviews as saying he had to battle with the studio to allow the movie to continue on with an R-rating instead of a PG-13 version.

Goofs and Errors

Continuity: In the beginning of the movie, Cydney (Milla Jovovich) hangs her feet out of the jeep and they are almost hit by a tree while passing. A short while after, it is noticeable that she has red nail polish on her toenails. However, later on in the movie, in various scenes that show her feet, she no longer has nail polish.

Continuity: In the scene where Nick and Cliff go ‘hunting’ it is pouring rain. When Cliff returns to the campsite he is completely dry and his hair is perfectly unscathed, however when Nick returns he is partially wet.

Continuity: The headrests in Cliff and Cydney’s Jeep are missing during interior shots then reappear during long exterior shots. Removing headrests from seats has been a common practice in movies for decades in order to provide more visibility while filming inside automobiles. This can usually be spotted by the two mounting holes at the top of the seat which are visible once the headrests have been removed.

Revealing Mistakes: A double rainbow is shown with red on the outside and violet on the inside of both rainbows. In reality, the order of colors in the outer rainbow is always reversed, with violet on the outside and red on the inside.

Errors in Geography: The Sea Cave scene: the rocks in the cave are limestone. Limestone is absent from the volcanic islands of Hawaii (but very common in Jamaica, where the scene was shot).

Movie Quotes

Cliff: “Sometimes it seems like… like nothing exists until we get there, until we put our eyes on it. Like the whole fucking world was manufactured for our wants and needs, ya know?”
Cydney: “You think there’ll be a nice sunset?”
Cliff: “I mean like if I take, if I just turn my head… ya know. For just a minute and… but don’t tell me, but does everything just stop? Just shut down… go in to some energy saving hibernation mode, till I choose to reactivate them.”

Kale: “Hey hot wheels.”

Cleo: “You should have given us a ride, man!”

Cliff: “Remember, nothing exists until we get there!”
Cydney: “Got it. Rocky? Nothing exists until I get there.”

Cydney: “Well, um… how close is it?”
Nick: “It’s like everything else in Hawaii, as close as far away gets.”

Nick: “You know, if you’re so fricking smart you could play stupid once in awhile.”
Gina: “That’d be your job.”
